Lucy Bridger’s award-winning short film, ‘Mothering,’ is heartwarming. It is about a child getting her first period in a new foster care home who is comforted by the resident’s grandmother. It’s an authentic story that is beautifully realized with genuine humanity and sisterhood.

Lucy is an award-winning Director based in London. She tells impactful human stories that are cinematic, intimate, and absorbing. She is especially interested in telling stories of underrepresented and vulnerable characters in society. Authenticity is key in Lucy’s work, so she takes an encouraging and gentle approach to directing actors, often encouraging improvisation to make performances feel real. Casting is central to Lucy’s work; she frequently works with experienced actors and non-actors. Lucy’s first short film, Mothering, won Best British Short at London Short Film Festival, Kinsale Sharks and UK Film Festival, while also screening at internationally renowned festivals, including Slamdance. Her commercial campaign Hide and Seek for the domestic abuse charity Refuge won a Gold award at LIA, Silver at Creative Circle, Bronze at Ciclope while also making the D&AD Shortlist.
